Defeat (temporary)

I have conceded defeat today. No training today.

As I have mentioned we are in the middle of a solid weather system in Perth at the moment. We have had about 100mm of rain since that Thursday (which is a lot for us) combined with regular gale force winds. I think the last of the storm is passing by right now and things should be starting to look good tomorrow, but for today it has been miserable with a capital M.

Looking at the forecast I made the decision yesterday to let it be. Last week I posted about training during bad weather, being flexible and a bit imaginative. I am been using my imagination during the last few days of training, however, today I decided that I would be flexible instead and leave the training for the rest of the week. Being outside is simply too miserable at the moment and I don't currently have easy access to a treadmill to allow me to stay inside.

Besides, after my race on Sunday I am now 7 weeks from my next event, so I thought it would probably be okay to give myself a little bit of a rest.

That rest will hopefully be short lived though with the weather looking like it might start clearing tonight. For the first time in days I can't hear the wind whistling outside and whilst it is currently raining I think that is becoming less persistent too. To be honest I am really looking forward to getting on with some consistent training to start properly building up to the Australian SUP Championships in October. Clear weather tonight and a new training program tomorrow, then we can really start getting on with business.

More on that tomorrow.
