Very quiet day today. In fact if anything it is a little too quiet. Nature abhors a vacuum and apparently so do I.
I have learnt over the years that I really struggle to sit around and do nothing. When given the opportunity to do nothing I usually fill that space with something. Rather that sit back and relax I sit there an think there must be something that I am supposed to be doing. Which means that relaxing do nothing days usually aren't all that relaxing.
Still, after a hectic week it has been good to have the chance to not do a lot today. No real coaching, some training this morning and that is about it. I might struggle to let myself sit still, but in terms of recovery, today has probably been pretty good.
More of the same tomorrow I expect, but hopefully I will be able to let myself relax a bit more. A bit of training in the morning and perhaps a bit more training in the afternoon, a few chores and also a touch of coaching etc in between. Should be a satisfying day, but more importantly it should be the sort of weekend that sets me up for a successful week of training to come. I might find it frustrating when I don't have a big agenda of things to tick off during the weekend, but in the bigger picture of sustainable, long term exercise, having weekends like this one are probably not a bad thing.
As long as they don't happen too often.
