Time for a bit of training today.
After the racing events of the weekend, today it was time to start getting back to work. Nothing to crazy just a couple of general fitness type sessions.
Session 1 this morning was on the bike with the Front Runner team. A pretty nice morning actually, not much wind, nice temperature. Lots of things going for it. The riding felt pretty good too, which I guess is what happens when you get some consistency and do it for a few weeks in a row.
Session 2 was probably the more interesting of the sessions as it was a run. Last week I dropped running off the program because I was tapering. Normally I include running in my weekly routine because it is such a time efficient and effective form of general exercise. However, during taper week running creates a bit of fatigue that I don't need, so I normally take a break. This means that today was my first run for a couple of weeks, so I took it pretty easy, just 30 minutes.
The run really felt pretty okay, perhaps not surprising given it was only 30 minutes and I has only been a week since I ran last, but still it is nice to return to an activity and not have it absolutely crush you. Certainly it is my intention to get back into the running routine that I had pre-taper so it was good to get this first session done and away. Given it went so well I will have no hesitation in doing a run session on Thursday, might even sneak it a bit more distance if I have the time.
Certainly good to be getting back into the routine of training, bringing a bit of focus on to the next goal on the calendar (about 6 weeks away). I do love me a bit of routine.
