Race Day Eve

Ready to go. Night for before race day. It has been a while since I have been in this situation.

I am currently in Busselton, well actually Dunsborough, but near Busselton. I am registered for the race tomorrow, have had some dinner and am pretty much good to go. All I really have left to do is go to bed, get up in the morning, put my race markings on, drive to Busselton and swim 3.6km. Easy.

Have to say I hadn't realised just how big an event this swim is. 3000 entrants. That is a fair old chunk of humanity. It is apparently the biggest open water swim in WA. I can well believe it having seen the crowds at registration. It was pretty mad. Cool to be involved in such a big event though. It will certainly add to the excitement of the event tomorrow.

Speaking of the event, I think this may actually be the first time I have ever gone into a race with absolutely zero expectation on an outcome. I can honestly say that tomorrow I will not be there to race. I will be starting with the goal of getting to the finish line and hopefully having a nice time on the way. That is it. Start off steady, steady in the middle and finish steady, that's the plan. Nice and simple. I am not particularly bothered about my time and I am definitely not interested in my position. It is quite a refreshing experience. Certainly helps keeps the nerves under control. Pretty much no nerves to speak of at the moment. Good to go.

I think that is about all there is to say about the race at this stage. Just need to get on with it now. Looking forward to having a nice time.
