Back on deck now. Been a bit of a frustrating whirlwind of a week, but things are looking back on target now.
The whole reason I have been silent for the last few days is that I was away for work. The whole idea of the work trip was that I was flying to Darwin with some others to do a bit of work on Tuesday before flying back yesterday. Unfortunately when we got to Darwin on Monday we were told that through no fault of our own the work wasn't required and we would instead be flying back to Perth on Tuesday. Nothing for us to do but turn around and fly home again. Pretty harmless, but still a little bit frustrating and a slight waste of two days. That is how the pavlova crumbles sometimes, but still annoying. Although the time in Darwin wasn't entirely a waste as I got to spend a bit of quality time with my parents, but still it would have been better to not lose the time away from home.
While I was up in Darwin I did manage to go for a run, which means I have actually run a couple of times this week. The run up in Darwin was particularly brutal, it is just so damn hot up there. I know training up there was never easy but you tend to forget just how unpleasant it can be training in the tropics. It was great to get in a bit of training while I traveled and also great to get in a second run for the week, but boy that one hurt.
Now that I am back in town life has settled into normal. No training today as it was my son's 6th Birthday and some things are more important that exercise, but I will be getting into the exercise side of things tomorrow and over the weekend.
Normally I would swim tomorrow, but with the Jetty swim done I think I might go for a paddle instead for once. Get some time on the river. I am not intending a long break from the pool, but thought I might give myself a week out. Will look to be back in the pool next week though. More training over the weekend looking to keep the fitness build going. Looking forward to settling back into the normal patterns of life for a while.
