Uncomfortable

Well that was a little uncomfortable.

As mentioned yesterday, today I was on the bike coaching a ride session for the Front Runner squad. For myself, and a few others in the group it was the first ride in a couple of weeks and so fair to say it didn't feel super great. Slightly ouchy in the legs department.

These things always come back pretty quickly, which everyone in the group understands, but that didn't help the this morning's threshold efforts feel any better.

Perhaps surprisingly, given they weren't feeling great, most of the group actually rode pretty well. It took them a little while to get going, I think the first effort or two were a bit slower than normal, but everyone seemed to find their groove by the end and powered on through. Perhaps some of the benefit of a bit of time off and a bit of cross training. Just goes to show that it is always worth persevering with a session, sometimes it doesn't come good, but often it does, once the body remembers what it is supposed to be doing.

For me personally it was great to be back on the bike. Every athlete I know in Perth is waiting for this Summer to bite properly, hit us with those multiple days of searing 40 degree temperatures, but it just hasn't happened yet. While the extreme temperatures are staying away I think we are all enjoying the opportunity to be outside loving the early sunrise, pleasant mornings and blue skies. Today was another one of those. Windy, but otherwise lovely.

I love being on the bike. I am not loving it enough to get myself on the bike for long, multi hour rides, not yet anyway, but once a week for a while it just about right. As I mentioned yesterday, coaching this session is great because it gives me a shove to get the bike out and go riding, which is just what I need. The legs didn't feel absolutely awesome this morning, but I was very happy to be out there again. Looking forward to move of it.
