Life is definitely starting to return to normal. Slowly.
Last week was all "Bwah, what the hell is going on" like waking up from a deep sleep. Returning to work, trying to remember what that is all about, returning to some coaching duties, returning to normal routine. It was all a bit strange, and if I am honest, just a little bit uncomfortable.
This week things are starting to feel a bit more standard. Work isn't quite so much of a shock, I am a bit more on top of what I am meant to be doing, the commute to the office etc is starting to come back to me, the routine of exercising etc. All starting to feel a bit more typical.
The next step in my return to routine will be occurring tomorrow, that will be the return to coaching sessions. Tomorrow will be my first coached bike session since the end of last year. It has been nice to have a short break from face to face coaching, but it is something that I really enjoy, so I am looking forward to getting back to it. There is something very fulfilling about witnessing people commit and improve week in, week out. Plus it is also a great excuse to get out on a bike myself, particularly during the glorious Summer we are having. Actually it will be my first ride since the end of last year, so that could be a little interesting. I am assuming I will probably remember how.
For many triathletes in WA, the beginning of the calendar year also signals a re-start to the racing season. Unless people have raced in Busselton Ironman in December, there are not that many races that occur in the first few months of our triathlon season. For many local triathletes, the season starts in earnest in the new year as we build to various races such as the Standard Distance State Championships and the Busselton Half Ironman in May. Given this re-start we often see athletes turn up to training in the new year, wide eyed and a little bleary, like a bear waking from hibernation.
Could be a fun morning for them.
