Not as nice

A tough bit of training this morning. This morning was one of those times I wrote about yesterday, when the temptation is to stay in bed, but you don't really have a good reason to do so. The wind was strong, the sky was grey and there had even been a little bit of rain. Not particularly enticing.

However, as I also wrote about yesterday, when you don't have a good reason to stay in bed, it is usually a good sign that you need to get up and get going, which is exactly what I did.

It would be nice to say that after the effort of getting out the door the conditions were better than expected and the session went great, but I have to say that wasn't really the case. The session was about as expected. That isn't to say it was bad, just not exactly enjoyable either. On top of the conditions I had a fairly tough threshold session planned, which rather hurt. A bit like an extra cherry on top.

However, as is always the case I am better off having done the session than not. The session may not have been ideal, but consistent training is always going to generate better results than inconsistent training. Sessions don't have to be magic, or even feel good, to provide benefit and positive long term outcomes, the important thing is that the session was done and the quality was there. Which is exactly why I headed out this morning.
