Night Before

Here we go, Christmas Eve, Game on.

Presents are wrapped, kids are in bed and asleep (hopefully), food has been left out for Santa and the presents are under the tree. Actions stations for everyone.

This Christmas seems to have been a long time coming, to say there is a bit of excitement in the house would be an understatement. The kids are pretty pumped about it. I am suspecting we will be in for a rather early morning tomorrow.

For an extra bit of spice on Christmas Eve we decided to add an extra degree of difficulty to our Christmas proceedings this year with our kids requesting that they sleep on mattresses under the Christmas tree. I think it was in the hope of catching Santa in the act. Sounds like quite a cute idea until you realise that you are signing up to putting presents in place under the tree with sleeping children right next to you. My wife and I have just been sneaking into the living room ninja style to put presents in place and to fill stockings, it looked like something from a Mission Impossible movie. I think we got away with it, but we will know for sure in the morning.

With tomorrow being Christmas I am now officially on holiday. The plan is that the holiday will last all the way through to New Years, which will be awesome, but we shall have to see how work goes. I will take even a little bit of time off to be honest.

Beyond the madness that is going to be tomorrow, I am really looking forward to getting a chance to get in about as much darn exercise as I can handle. The last couple of weeks have been frustrating, but I am hoping I can put that behind me this week and get some decent training done. As an example I did two paddles today, which is the first time I have managed that for a while. Hopefully the first of many busy days in the coming week with perhaps some running and maybe even some open water swimming too. Very exciting.

Before all that happens though, first we need to survive Christmas. Christmas for our household is going to be pretty full on tomorrow. I suspect by this time tomorrow I will be properly exhausted.

With our new house now established the extended family Christmas is all going to take place here. First my wife's family in the morning and then my side of the family in the afternoon. It should be a great day, and I am really looking forward to it, but it is going to be FULL ON. I completely expect Boxing Day to simply be spent recovering from Christmas Day.

Now, given that I will certainly have an early morning tomorrow, I think I should probably get off to bed.

Merry Christmas
