A very lovely day

So in the end no big surprises in the tour last night. Barring unfortunate circumstances Thomas should be wearing the Yellow in Paris tomorrow. Still the TT to go of course and things could of course happen there, I just can't see it though. I have the tour playing as I type this and I look forward to seeing how it pans out, but I wouldn't expect the top 2 to change after this stage. The TT might be enough to see Froome back on the podium, but it really depends on how he pulls up from yesterday's stage. Always interesting watching the TT of course because they are interesting stages, but I am not really expecting to see any fundamental shifts in race outcomes.

Tour aside, it has been a very pleasant day for me personally. My wife is away today and tomorrow and so today it has just been me and the kids. Juggling a weekend with the kids can potentially make for a busy day, but really it has been pretty cruisy. I am sitting here watching the tour, typing this and drinking wine and so that isn't really a bad way to finish the day. My week has been pretty insane so far, so having a chance to relax today has been very welcome indeed.

While the day is finishing nicely it also started very nicely too.

A morning out on the river today that I would describe as close to perfect. Nice temperature, flat water, no rain, it was pretty much ideal in every way. Given that my exercise will be a little restricted tomorrow because my wife is away, it was great to start the weekend in such a nice way.

I say my exercise will be a little restricted tomorrow, but that isn't to say it will be non-existent. My wife being away has simply meant I need to get a bit more creative with my training. That means I will be jumping on the Kickr in the morning for the first time in ages. The Kickr has the obvious advantage that I can train while still being at home, so it is sort of ideal. Of course I haven't ridden on the Kickr literally in months, so that could make the session an interesting one, but I am pretty confident it will be fine. In fact having not been on the Kickr in so long means that spending a bit of time there is probably not a bad idea.

My other big task for tonight/tomorrow morning is to also catch up on a bit of sleep as I have been struggling with that so far. In fact I think I might go and get on with that now.
