A good day

A darn good day today.

To be fair any day when you aren't at work is likely to be fairly good, but even by those standards today was very satisfying.

It wasn't a satisfying day for any particularly ground shaking reasons, but rather because we got a lot done and doing so gave us all a nice warm fuzzy glow.

The stuff we were doing was all little mundane things, but most successful ventures are made up of a series of little wins strung together, even an Ironman is like that. As regular readers will know, over Easter we decided to completely re-arrange our house. We are through with all the major parts of that upheaval, but we are still dealing with the little bits and pieces that come in the aftermath. Cleaning up all the loose ends are the little wins we have had today. There is still a long way to go, but our house is feeling more and more like normal. It has been the weeks of work, but we are getting there.

While the day has been busy, it has also been relaxing. I think it is the relaxation that comes from knowing you have got a lot of stuff done, ticked off a lot of boxes on the to do list. Having had such a busy day today also means that tomorrow and Sunday can be a more relaxed as we don't have quite so much to cram in. We still have a couple of busy days for sure, but having got so much achieved today will make the next two days easier and more enjoyable. That is the hope at least.

There is still quite a lot to get done on the weekend, starting tomorrow with a rather large brick session that I am running for Front Runner. This brick is a true race simulation with a 60km bike and 12km run and is the key preparation session for the group before Busselton 70.3. Getting through the brick will make for a busy morning, but hopefully once it is done the rest of the day will become little easier. Today has been a nice relaxing time, so I am looking forward to getting more of that tomorrow and Sunday.

If the rest of the weekend can be as satisfying as today has been then it should go down as successful indeed.
