Home again, home again

Here we are, home again home again.

As I said yesterday, getting away for a weekend of training is great, but getting home again afterwards is even greater.

Getting home to cuddle the family, see everyone again, do my bit around the house and sleep in my own bed. All wonderful things.

The biggest part of today was taken up with packing up down south and getting home again, but before we did that there was a bit of time for some training today. The training was a fairly short run with a bit of intensity mixed in. It was good to back up yesterday's long run with a bit of work this morning. While the focus of this morning's run was on working a bit, I did keep it under control, mindful that I haven't asked much intensity of the body recently and that I am fatigued from yesterday. Getting back into training is one thing, but overdoing unnecessarily is just silly. I didn't want to push to hard and twing something.

Still it was good to ask a bit more of the body in terms of intensity. In the past week or so anytime I have tried to push the effort it has resulted in a big hot mess, with the heart rate shooting through the roof. Today the heart rate shot up but it was more in line with what the effort required, the increase wasn't disproportionate. Whilst I wasn't going as quickly as I would have liked, that was more a result of fatigue and a lack of fitness, rather than the result of illness or anything else mysterious.

Now that I am home I am really looking forward to getting on with training again. It feels like it has been weeks since I was last able to train properly and that is probably because it has been. The cold I had threw my training routine out the window, and whilst I was able to train last week, it never really felt comfortable. Now though I am finally feeling like I am getting closer to normal and that I am able to do some work.

Really looking forward to it.
