Night before

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse

Well that is certainly true in this household. There certainly isn't much stirring going on here, the kids are in bed and my wife and I are almost comatose both with exhaustion and food. I almost wasn't going to sit down and right this such was the lateness of the night and the completeness of our exhaustion.

The lateness (it has just hit 9:30pm in Perth - Santa is due here in about 2 hours according to Google) and the exhaustion are due to us having a very full Christmas Eve. It has been very full in the best kind of way though. This morning I spent a few hours riding in the Perth hills with the Break Your Limits folks on the annual Christmas ride. It was a little bit warm and the flies were terrible, but on the whole the ride was a very pleasant one. Nice to get out and get some proper miles in the legs too.

Shiny
Being Christmas the bike was of course decorated appropriately. Proud to say that the decorations survived the entire 130km outing.

The rest of the day was mostly spent relaxing at a friends house. The kids had a ball, the parents had some drinks and prawns. All up it was pretty much the epitome of what Christmas in Australia is all about. Between the ride, the sun, the drinks and the food though, I am absolutely shattered tired now though.

So with that said, I am about to crawl into bed. Tomorrow is going to be a big day of excited children. It might be another exhausting one, but it should be a lot of fun too. It is one day of the year when I will happily put my training on hold and relax. Training and racing can wait for another time, tomorrow is Christmas and there are much more important things to be focusing on.

Like Christmas pudding...
