Busselton

A bit of a quick one today, as it is late and it has been a long day.

The big news of today is that I am here, I have successfully made it to Busselton for Ironman WA.

Today has been all about getting ready to travel and getting down here. I wasn't at work today, instead we spent the morning packing and the afternoon travelling.

Everything but the kitchen sink
The whole day really went very smoothly but it was a long one. Still it could have been much worse, I was reminded yet again today how much easier it is to race locally. A morning of packing followed by an afternoon of driving, rather than a morning of packing followed by 24 hours of flying. I know which I prefer.

We took the drive to Busso quite easy, trying to keep the kids entertained, and so didn't get down here until about 4:30. Once we were here it was time to check in to our accommodation before braving the shops to stock up. Being Thursday the town hasn't quite descended into full Ironman mode yet (that will happen tomorrow), but the shops were still quite full of sporty types wearing Garmins. At least it is all done now though.

Tomorrow I have a reasonably easy day on the cards. In the morning I am heading down for a swim on the course and then sometime after that I will register. In the afternoon I have a briefing to attend and I will also get in a bit more training. Probably some eating and some relaxing mixed in with all that too. All up a fairly cruisy day.

Good to finally be down here, now it starts to get exciting.
