Day 5 in Iskandar Puteri - Home time

No race report yet. I told you I probably wouldn't get to it today. I might start working on it a bit later depending on how enthusiastic I feel at the airport, and just how much time I have to kill.

If I haven't been writing the race report, just what have I been doing all day you may ask and you would be right to do so. Not a lot is the answer.

Like I often do after a race I got to bed way to late last night. Not for any good reason, just that I didn't feel like going to bed. Of course the problem being that even though I went to bed late my body still woke up early, so I am actually operating on not a lot of sleep right now. Quite silly, and completely self inflicted, but there you go. I may catch up on a bit of sleep on the plane, but we shall have to see, I don't usually have great success with sleeping on planes.

All the same, I was up a bit later that usual this morning and so I have had a nice late (later than normal anyway) start to the day. Since then there has been a bit of breakfast eating, a bit of gift buying, I headed out and had a coffee as is my norm, some lunch and a bunch of packing. Actually packing has been my main task of the afternoon, which I have just finished up doing. Usually the pack up is the easy bit because you have less stuff than you brought up, so weight and fitting it in isn't a problem. However, for this trip the organisers were so generous that I think I am probably going home with more than I came with. I fitted it all in the end though.

As well as the general pottering above I also spent 40 minutes of so this morning in the hotel pool getting in a bit of gentle swimming and moving about, just making sure the body is still mobile. That is always the challenge with the traveling following a race, making sure you don't seize up completely. Actually I am feeling pretty good post race. I think one thing with hot races like this is that they work your cardiovascular very hard, but not necessarily your muscles and so you sometimes do find that you come out of them feeling pretty alright. That is certainly the case for me this time around, very little soreness etc, just fatigue, which I guess is fair enough.

Other than all that the day has been mostly spent just relaxing, which is a nice way to spend the day after a race. You don't always get the luxury of just sitting around after you finish racing so I am enjoying the chance to do it this time around before getting into an evening and night of travel.

Hopefully the evening and night of travel go as easily on the way home as they did on the way up here and I arrive back in Perth early tomorrow bright eyed and bushy tailed. Assuming it all goes to plan I will be back online tomorrow as normal.

It has been a fun and interesting time up here in Iskandar Puteri, but I am definitely ready to be heading home.
