Bizarro World

A strange reversal of the norm this morning. Instead of me being up early and disappearing as my wife and kids wake up today it was my wife's turn to sneak away early. It was kind of strange getting out of bed to find the lights already on and the house awake, and then by 6:30 she was away for her day or orchestraing (totally a word) and it was time for me to be Dad.

Given the above, there was no training for me this morning. There wasn't any training on the program either, so I am more than okay with the morning of rest. Rather than training, my morning was spent herding hairless monkeys in order to get them fed, dressed and generally ready to face the day. It is harder than it looks. Those little monkeys can be speedy.

To be honest I am more than okay with the lack of training this morning, coming off the Training Camp I could certainly do with a lighter day or two before getting into a very solid weekend. Not that today will be completely training free. The plan is to jump on the trainer for an easy spin tonight once the monkeys have been sedated.

The idea of the heavy weekend of training is to essentially do an Ironman broken over three days. Swim tomorrow, ride and a bit of running on Saturday and some more running on Sunday. Unfortunately I already know that due to the time restrictions I mentioned yesterday the weekend is not going to work out as nicely as that. Instead I suspect it will look something like, swimming tomorrow, running Saturday before a bit of riding and more running on Sunday. Not ideal and certainly not to plan, but there isn't a lot of choice so I am past the point of obsessing over what won't be done and am instead focusing on what I can get done. As I wrote that a couple of sneaky alternatives to the above have just occurred to me for fitting the training in, alternatives that may work better with the forecast weather. There are some other factors too, such as a very exciting bike shaped delivery that I am hoping may turn up tomorrow, but may not be here until Monday. If that did turn up tomorrow and was ready by Sunday, then that would make riding Sunday very attractive. I will have to see what I can come up with. Training will happen though, that much is certain.

All that is to come though. For now life is fairly simple. I need to get home, cook pizza and chase monkeys. Life doesn't get much better than that.
