Getting moving

A bit of a tired wake up this morning. Not sure, but probably sleep related, rather than over training related. Wasn't a late night or anything, just woke up a few times in the early morning. Whatever the reason though it was certainly one of those mornings where the desire to return to bed ran strong. It didn't help that I actually felt okay with the idea of going back to bed. The thought process was something like, 'I have many weeks of solid training under my belt and training is going so well, I can justify a sleep in'. Very rare that the guilt gland calms down enough to allow those sorts of thoughts to filter through.

On top of that the run session was clearly going to be a tough one. It looked tough even just written on the program. The session was made up of 7 x 2 km pieces. That in itself wasn't too bad, since it is a session that I had last week too. Last week it was solid but manageable, so I knew it was achievable. However, this week the required pace was a bit quicker and the rest between the intervals a bit shorter. So part of my hesitation to get out and train may been a bit of session fear.

However, despite all that I knew I had to get out and going. I knew that despite feeling tired, my legs would probably feel good once I got running since they were reasonably rested. Plus, running is going so nice right now that the motivation to keep building on that progress is strong. Besides, once you have had that pre-training coffee, there isn't a lot of point thinking about returning to bed. All those thoughts and a couple of others were enough to get me through the door and moving. After a bit of faffing of course

Just like last week I am so glad I got myself going. Another lovely run. The session was quicker than last week, and tough no doubt, but the running felt good. A couple of bits here and there it felt really good. All up, with warm up, warm down etc the session is pushing 20km and so it is a long one, but I felt great all the way through. The last few efforts began to pinch a little, but part of that was because I was pushing the pace too. Running still isn't quite as quick or easy as it was at the end of last year, And still a long way from being quick enough. But it is ever so close to where it was, a month or so off I think. Then from there I can start to build again. But more importantly it feels so good. Very novel experience for me. Loving it.

Yesterday I mentioned that I was no in the market for a new TT bike. A lot of yesterday I was busy looking into the most cost effective option to get racing again with the help of the guys from Churchill Cycles. Then last night I was reminded that my race bike is insured under my Home and Contents insurance as a specific line item. We called it out in our insurance policy because 1 - it is worth a lot and 2 - it travels a lot. I had clean forgotten about that. Anyway, long story short we made a claim yesterday. I haven't heard back yesterday, but fingers crossed that it comes through. It will certainly make the bike replacement process a lot less stressful if it does. It could also open up a couple more bike options which would be nice too. Anyway, have to wait and see on that one. I certainly would never count insurance eggs before they hatch, but I am quietly hopeful.

Some bike time coming up. Recovery spin tonight before putting in a bit of effort in the morning. A bit of sleeping in between.
