Early post today. I always sort of mean to write these posts early but then I never quite seem to get there. Today though I have a very compelling reason to get it done so that is what I am doing.
Another day another session. Today that session was back in the pool. Once again this session was another step up over my swim on Wednesday. A little bit more distance, swimming was a little faster and everything felt a little easier. I am still hitting a bit of a wall around 1800m or so which is a bit depressing, but that is conditioning and fitness more than anything else. I feel like I could swim on at that point, but it would be with a drop in quality. I also find that my shoulder tends to get a bit sore around that point too. Once again it isn't so bad as to force a stop, but it isn't pain free either. I am looking forward to the time when that pain doesn't occur and I can swim easy, which will hopefully come some day soon.
Other than the swim that is me done for training today. I don't have anything else on the program today and even if I did I wouldn't be getting to it. Tonight is the annual Dad's and Kids camp at my daughters school (hence my compelling reason to get this written early). We went to the kids camp for the first time last year and it was a lot of fun, in an overwhelming kind of way. It is one of those events that you know will at some point force you outside your comfort zone, but at the same time will be enjoyable. I at least get a chance to indulge my enjoyment of camping, even if it is just on the school oval. My goal for this year will be to secure a camp spot not near the kids main running and screaming area. Consider that a lesson learned from last year.
Given the camp, tomorrow morning is going to be a little bit interrupted. Last year I headed out on the bike after the camp which worked okay, but wasn't ideal. This year the plan is to instead head out for a run after the camp and then ride on Sunday, which should be a bit easier to fit in. Possibly a swim tomorrow afternoon too with a couple of guys from the Swim Smooth squad. Well near some guys from the Swim Smooth squad, I don't particularly expect that I will be swimming with them.
Let the high pitched squealing begin.
