Starting 2016

Today was hopefully the first day of the rest of my year.

Today was the day that I returned to an official training program. In many ways it is what I consider to be an official end to my injury. Yes sure I may still have some stitches in my shoulder, but other than that I am healed. Hopefully from here I can continue to train and build with an eye to having a solid 6 months of racing in the second half of the year.

So how did I mark this auspicious day. Well I spent 70 minutes on the Kickr of course. How else?

Good little session. A bit of high intensity interval stuff and a bit of spinning. The intervals were a nice little reminder that I can get the power levels up when I need to. The spinning was all comfortable. Everything pretty much in its place. Hopefully things will continue in that vein as the fitness improves and form returns.

A bit of a jog tomorrow. After my jog yesterday I am keen for another. Yesterday showed me what I needed to do in order to keep the intensity down and the running comfortable so I want to get out there and replicate that again tomorrow. My shin/knee soreness has also pulled up fine from yesterday, certainly no worse. The niggle seems to be responding well to the exercises given to me by physio Marc. Still a bit sore at times, but from what he told me it will take time to go away, it should gradually improve though and that is exactly what I am seeing. As I have said before, a good physio is worth their weight in gold.

Now, on with the rest of the year...
