Lovely day in Perth today, mainly because it was a public holiday and so we all had the day off.
I decided to make the most of my day of no work by heading out for a decent ride on the road. Well decent for me at the moment, which means I got out for around 2 hours. Being on the road was significant because it was my first real ride in about 2 months.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit apprehensive heading into the ride today. Having been off the bike for so long, the bike handling skills are a little rusty to say the least. Plus I have a bit of the post crash timidness hanging around. Given all that, I was bit unsure how the session would go.
Well I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I was still fairly timid on the bike, but not as bad as I expected. The fitness side of things was good though, with power at a good level and managed with a sustainable heart rate.
Windy on the bike, but even that couldn't really detract from the enjoyment of being out on the bike again and enjoying the simply pleasure of riding.
Now that the first session back on the bike is out of the way, I am very keen to get on and do more. Can't wait.
