This time around the forecast was right, this morning was wet. Quite wet by Perth standards. Given that, I didn't regret my decision to leave the bike on the trainer last night one bit.
The recovery spin on the trainer this morning went fine. I was actually feeling a little flat on the bike, so I kept the intensity low, which is sort of the point of a recovery session anyway. I improved as the session went, but I still largely let the heart rate dictate the intensity.
I have still been feeling a little bit flat throughout the day, but I suspect it is just the aftereffects of my reintroduction to training last week. Monday is typically a recovery day for me and the way I have been feeling today demonstrates why. A good night sleep and then back into training proper tomorrow.
Speaking of training proper tomorrow, more time on the trainer and then a run in the afternoon. The forecast for the morning is dubious, but the session is one of those that I would do on the Kickr irrespective of weather. As some people know I am a big advocate of building some trainer sessions into regular training. After having a severe dislike for trainers for many years, I finally saw the light in 2013 with the release of the Kickr and I haven't looked back. Unlike this morning though, the session tomorrow won't be so much about heart rate, but more about power. Time to do some work.
The run in the afternoon is a bit more of a low key affair. Still some work going on, but plenty of low intensity too. When it comes to running, my body tends to be a little bit fragile. I would like it to be otherwise, but I'd like to be the King of all Londium and wear a shiny hat too, sometimes you can't always get what you want. That means that when it comes to building running fitness I generally have to take a slowly, slowly approach. Tomorrow's session is a bit more of that.
Not to slowly though...
