Not much action, ie none, on the training front today. Today has been all about getting home from Busselton 70.3. Success on that front.
Other than packing and travelling, the other triathlon related activity was heading down to help out at the Ironkids triathlon this morning. I have done this sort of thing before, helping out handing out finisher medals at the Albany Half earlier this year and I really enjoy it. These kids put so much into it, I have never seen more heartfelt sprints down the finisher's chute. The weather this morning was no picnic either, it was chilly again, a little breezy and raining, yet stacks of these kids were out on the course. Not a wetsuit in sight for the swim. In a lot of ways I think most of the adult field from yesterday could learn a thing or two from watching these kids. It was a lot of fun and one of the real perks of this whole 'professional' thing.
As I have said though, other than the kids it has been a quiet day. Getting home went very smoothly. Our two kids more or less lost consciousness once they were in the car, after a good few days of going basically non stop. The unpacking process has gone well enough, we don't seem to have lost anything too major, with most things having turned up again at this end. We have collected our pets from their various sitters. The house bears some resemblance to its usual state of untidiness. Really everything is in place for us to get into the week tomorrow, business as usual.
As has become the norm post race, this week is a pretty cruisy one training wise. Really I am being left to my own devices. The instructions simply being to keep moving. With that in mind I plan to jump on the bike in the morning. Nothing crazy, just a cruisy spin. Assuming the rain we are currently having has passed (it is supposed to).
Other than that, my immediate future contains a giant steak and a bit of wine. I had better get on with that.
