A blog about training and stuff

I was bang up for trying to write a more interesting post today, rather than the usual, I trained today doing a little bit of this followed by a little bit of that. But it is late and I am tired so guess what...

I trained today. This morning I did this and this afternoon I did a little bit of that.

Well I guess the training thing is a bit significant because today was my first day back on 'the program'. The program of course being proper training. Always a little nerve wracking heading into a session when you haven't trained in anger for a week or so. But as is usually the case, the sessions went fine.

This morning I was on the bike on a particularly nice riding morning. Not too cold this morning which was nice, although a bit of smoke hanging around (burning off in the hills), which wasn't. It wasn't a particularly onerous session, just 70 minutes of scooting about, really just a warning shot across the bow of my body. More to come, be warned. Legs took a little while to get into the groove, but they found their way eventually.

This afternoon was the running equivalent of this morning's ride. Just another warning shot. An interval session with a number of three minute intervals. Went fine. Actually the intervals felt pleasantly okay. A good little session to comfort you and remind you that everything will be alright.

So all up it was a solid return to training. It seems like everything was where I had left it after Busselton, so that was nice. Nothing like returning from a break to find that somebody has walked off with your riding fitness or something. It can be a real pain if you have to look around for that.

Tomorrow the return to proper training will continue with a bit more Japan 70.3 specific training. I will also try to follow up on my promise of a slightly more interesting post.
