Recovery

A strange kind of a run this morning. A bit all over the shop.

I have been pulling up pretty sore from running for a little while now, since Busselton 70.3 if I am honest. Mainly in the general groinish region, on the right. When I run it usually starts off sore, eases off and then gets worse again when I start to fatigue. On the whole though it is not that bad, manageable usually. Typically after a run I am sore, but it eases off after a while and by the afternoon of the next day I am good to go again.

However, after my run on Tuesday night, for what ever reason, it was worse than usual. To the point that I was still pretty sore last night. My plan for this morning was to see how it felt once I got up, and then do an easy run. Still get out, but not to push, since I know that aggravates it.

Everything was going to plan, I headed out, warmed up and got a little rained on, business as usual really. Once I got running though the groin was still sore, a bit too sore in my opinion. I was about 1km from home, so I decided that caution was the wiser course and walked towards home. I was nearly home when I thought, it doesn't feel that bad anymore and so I gave jogging another go.

It was still sore, but with the extra walking to warm it up it felt better than it had, and manageable enough that I felt that running was viable. So I headed off again and did my run.

I got through the hour of running I had planned, and as intended kept it pretty low intensity. The groin was sore at the end, but no worse than when I had started. It felt a bit like I had snatched a win from the jaws of defeat.

I am still planning on seeing the physio tomorrow though.

Tonight I am on the bike and I think the question isn't IF I will get wet, but rather HOW wet I get. Certainly lots of little patches of rain sweeping over the city, short and sharp (in fact it is raining as I type this). Still, hopefully it isn't too bad. I have lots of clothes to keep me warm at least and the wind is supposed to be light. I am looking forward to being on the road again though. It feels like I haven't ridden on the road for ages. Strange really. It can't have been that long, but it feels it. Still I would look forward to it more if it was just a little bit less rainy.
