Seems like most of Perth disappeared this morning. The majority of it has come back, well probably all of it, but it was touch and go for a while there for a little while, with a heavy fog descending over town.
It was a bit surreal but also very cool. By the time I took the above photo a lot of the fog had lifted, earlier on it has been much thicker. I was out running this morning and at times it was like I was running into a wall of darkness, with all the lights etc being swallowed by the fog.
Speaking of running, today's run was the last for a faithful friend of mine. My Mizuno Inspire 10s
These have been good shoes to me. These are the shoes that showed me that I didn't need to run in the most supportive, most cushioned shoe out there. Yes these are still a supportive shoe, but they are a far cry from what I came from. So with the retirement of these shoes it is time to welcome in a new pair of shoes.
Yes, well okay, sort of a new pair of shoes. You know what they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The run itself went well. A nice speed session, which felt surprisingly good.
It has been a public holiday in Perth today, so the rest of day has been a nice and relaxing. The plan is to finish off the relaxing day with an easy spin on the trainer. In the morning I will be heading out on to the road (weather pending) for a proper ride.
On a different topic, I thought I would make a quick addition to what I said in my yesterday's. As well as the awesome races from Daryl and Robyn, there were a number of other impressive races from other members of Daryl's squad. There were results from Josh, Tara, Phil and Jo also over in the Hawaii 70.3. There was a very impressive 7th from Tim Green in the professional field over at the Cairns 5150. And then finally there was Glen and Kylie, who took on and completed the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. For those who aren't familiar with Escape from Alcatraz, it is worth plugging into Google to have a look. It isn't that long, but it is super, super tough. I can picture the area where the course is and it is not terrain that I would be keen to swim, ride and run over. Very solid effort.
Congratulations all around.
