My session this morning was just a longish ride. No hills, no intervals, just go out and do 100km. There was a point during the ride this morning where I wondered at what point my life took the strange turn that resulted in a 100km ride being described as 'just'. But I moved on from that pretty quickly.
These sorts of sessions always sound boring on paper, but usually I really enjoy them. You don't have to spend time thinking about where are you going to fit your intervals, which route would work best etc. You just go out and ride. Nice and low stress. The session wasn't specifically intended to be a 100km TT, and to be honest I didn't treat it as one. But when I have sessions like this I do like giving myself a bit of a test. I remember the first time I did 100km in three hours and I was so chuffed with myself. That was a while ago now, so these days my aim is to simply see how far under 3 hours I can get.
In the end I sort of buried myself a bit, which wasn't exactly the point of the session. It was a load of fun though.
This afternoon I headed down to the pool for the Swim Smooth Saturday session. This swim wasn't on my program, but I thought it would be a good chance to catch up on the session that I missed on Wednesday. At the moment I just feel like I need time in the water, so this was a good opportunity to get that. It was a fun session as they often are, and things were certainly feeling a little bit more normal by the end. As I have said during the week, I am confident that the swimming will start feeling good again pretty quickly. This was a step in that direction.
In other swimming related good news, I found my old goggles today. Ages ago I was saying that I thought I had lost them at the pool. In fact it was after another Saturday Swim. I just couldn't find them anywhere. Anyway I was cleaning my gear room today (yes I have a gear room) and there they were, on the floor.

Running in the morning. Hopefully it is a little less hurty than Thursday. A bit of cross country work in fact, for something different. It works out well actually, they have recently ripped up some footpath near my house and at the moment the path is just sand. So to get my cross country I can probably just run the way I usually do. Nifty.
