I am quietly hopeful that I may have dodged a bullet with this cold (he says frantically searching for some wood to touch). I am feeling reasonably okay at the moment. The sore throat is gone and the rest of me feels alright, a bit sniffly, but likely to survive the rest of the day. Fingers crossed, but looks good so far.
The way I am feeling right now wasn't aided at all by a good night sleep unfortunately. Well that isn't entirely true, I slept very very well up until about 4:40am, which is when my son woke up and resolutely refused to go back to sleep. It is funny, I regularly get up before 4:40am and have no problem with it. However, when you aren't planning on being awake at that time, it really is a bit of a pain. Both my wife and I have had stern words with him, to which his response was to blow a raspberry and then giggle at us. There is no reasoning with some people, particularly when they are 15 months old.
Whilst there hasn't been any training today, I do have some exciting training news. I have a new, fun bit of kit to play with, a decent wind trainer. After some deliberation, and chatting to plenty of friends, I have ended up going for a Wahoo Kickr. I really like the idea of the direct drive trainer, and I was tossing up between a Lemond and a Kickr. From everything I have heard the Lemond is an awesome device, but in the end the extra features of the Kickr and the slightly quieter operation got it over the line for me, despite the higher price.
I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, it is currently a large box sitting at home. But I will break it out tonight and get acquainted. Looking forward to it, no more riding out into storms. Just in the nick of time.
Despite how I am feeling I am still planning on resting this afternoon. But if I am still feeling this way in the morning then I will be back training. Looking forward to it.
