See my Vest, See my Vest...

Sorry, a bit of a Simpson's quote there, couldn't help myself.

Due to some clashes with minor things, such as day to day living, I moved the ride I was supposed to go on last night to this morning. The run I was supposed to go on this morning will be done this afternoon instead (hooray running).

Anyway, as a result of the re-arrange I got to spend some time doing one of my favourite things which is going for an autumn morning ride. Little bit blowy, but otherwise lovely. On the chilly side though, enough that this morning's ride was my first official arm warmer ride for the year. It also meant I got to crack out my new vest which I have been hanging out for a couple of months for an excuse to use.

Nice and vesty. And yes, I have had it pointed out to me by my wife that I should probably never combine that jersey (with green sleeves) with that vest again, ever. My excuse is that it was dark when I left and I am colourblind.

Between the vest and the arm warmers I was nice and toasty, which is exactly what you want. I am also hoping this vest is a little bit more visible than my old, entirely black one.
The actually riding bit of the ride went okay. Speed was down slightly, but power was about where it should be. My excuse is that I am pretty sure it was one of those mornings where you have a head wind on the way out, but then it drops when it is your turn for a tail wind. Well that is my excuse and I am sticking with it.

It is strange I also quite enjoyed the novelty of riding in the dark. I know that if you ask me in a couple of months I will tell you that I am sick of riding in the dark. But for now, it was kind of nice. I love that feeling you get sometimes when you are riding early in the morning and it is like the whole world is asleep. You are just out there in your little cocoon of light and warmth, spinning along. It can be a peaceful kind of moment. Was nice for now.

As I mentioned above, running tonight. I am still feeling okay and so I am hoping that my plan to run for a little bit longer than I did on Tuesday will work out. Fingers crossed, things are looking good so far.

I really like that Vest.

Sorry.
