Anyone who read my blog from yesterday may remember me saying that I was running last night and that the plan was to not kill myself like on Tuesday.
Yeah well that didn't happen.
But the upside of that is that the pain was kind of worth it with the run being a decent one. Still not back to where I would like it, but yesterday was another step in the right direction. It might just be one step out of the 1000 necessary, but each one has to happen, so they are all important.
The take away from the session was that it was at a decent speed and I didn't feel like I was completely on the limit to do so. I was running hard certainly, but not flat out. The big upsides where that my back didn't protest to hard about the effort. My hip flexor felt better too, both during the run and afterwards. The only thing I have changed with the hip flexor is the amount of stretching I am doing, but it seems to be making a difference.
Down to the pool this morning and coach Paul was back on pool deck (he has been away for a couple of weeks). The result was a session that reduced grown men to tears, and a couple of the grown women, but on the whole they are made of sterner stuff. What we were doing wasn't that long or anything, just fast, which made it tough. Still like all the swim sessions it was good to get through. Kind of a pyramid with

See, sort of a pyramid, in a wonky kind of way. As I said, not that tricky, but when done on some pretty stiff times it can end up being a bit ouchy. Which it did.
Out onto the bike tonight for a touch of riding (makes sense I guess, being a bike and all, not sure what else you would do on it really?). Just a spin tonight. These sessions often end up being a bit harder than a bit of a spin, but the ol' legs are a bit tired this afternoon, so I think spinning may be the order of the day. We will see, I seem to uttering those words before...
