Merry Easter

Happy Easter everyone, and for anyone who doesn't celebrate Easter, Happy Eat Chocolate Till You Vomit Day.

For Easter this year I gave myself a big chocolaty lump of pain, wrapped in a nice silver foil of Owwww. I chose it myself, so I can't complain that much. Needless to say it was a very solid and pretty tough day of training.

This morning I had a ride/run session. These can be hard sessions, but even in that context, this was  particularly tough one. The ride was 90km with a bunch of hill repeats included. About 1000 vertical metres worth in the end. I finished the ride with toasted legs. Then had a 14km run.

That run hurt. It wasn't super quick, I have certainly run quicker, but it wasn't too bad and so at the moment I will take it. It didn't feel super great, but part of that is down to my stomach not still being 100% from the other day. Mostly there, but still a bit uncomfortable, requiring a comfort stop along the way. Still better than if I had tried the session on Friday, in which case it would have been made up of me running 100m away from a toilet block and then 100m back again.

Too much information perhaps...

After the session today I was just properly, 'let me lie down and please occasionally check I am still breathing' exhausted. A situation that wasn't helped by doing the whole family Easter thing for lunch. Heaps of fun, but also a bit like another training session.

This afternoon I paid the piper. On Friday I took the easy option and didn't go swimming, putting it off. Today I had a choice, pay up or skip it. Man I wanted to skip it, so very very tired. However, I manged to drag myself down to the river and get the session done. Very happy with myself now, in an exhausted kind of way.

Sleep in tomorrow morning. A real live, proper sleep in. Hopefully this time my son comes to the party and I actually get to stay in bed.
