A bit more progress

A nice solid day of training today, a bit of running and a bit of swimming.

Today was number three in my runs since starting to run again and it was a little bit further again over the run I did on Thursday, the aim today was 70 minutes. That was the plan anyway, although it actually ended up being little bit further than I meant it to be. This was because I was a bit over a km into it when I realised that instead of hitting the lap button as I changed from walking to running, I had instead stopped the watch altogether. I restarted it again, but by that stage had missed a km or so of running. I then spent the rest of the run trying to arrange it so that I still only ran 70 minutes. In the end though I stuffed up my sums slightly and ended up running about 73 minutes or so I think. Not the end of the world though really.

The run went okay, a little bit slower today, my legs just felt a bit flatter than they did on Thursday. No big worry, they just have a few more days of training in them at the moment. Pretty tired for the rest of the day though. The run this morning was more running than I have done for a while and my body is feeling it now. Tired legs.

Back seems to be okay though which is welcome news. I think my tired legs were probably more of an issue this morning than my back.

This afternoon it was swimming time again. I headed down to Claremont again to do the Swim Smooth session. These last three weeks have been pretty good in terms of swimming, I have managed to be consistent with my training and I think I am starting to see some results. The squad on Saturday tends to be quite small at the moment, so I often find myself doing a bit of work by myself. Today was similar again, and whilst it isn't great in terms of drafting practice etc (something we often do a lot of on Saturday's) it is good as a bit of a self check, to see how you are going when it is just you and the pool. Today I had a couple of 200s and a 300, which whilst they weren't flat out, they were on a pretty solid time, which I managed to hold. Happy with that. I was stuffed by the end, but I was happy with the process of getting there.

Tomorrow is riding time, and I have a  very solid ride on the program. It is something along the lines of start, ride hard for about 4 hours, stop. There are some finer points in there, but that is the basic idea. Going to be a tough morning I think.

Wish me luck.
