My favourite kind of day

Wednesday today, or hump day as some people like to refer to it. For me however, today is Cake Day.

Cake Day, my favourite kind of day
We just got a new oven at home, it is very shmancy. Anyway, in order to celebrate the arrival of said oven my wife decided to use it and so baked a number of cakes. As a result of this I got to bring some cake with me to work today, which is pretty high up on my list of things that are good to bring to work (just below a go kart). The cake is unfortunately now gone, but its memory will live on in the crumbs that are now scattered over my desk and in my keyboard.

The cake is gone, long live the cake!!!

Moving on now to less cake related issues. I did some more training today (ooooo look at me). As mentioned yesterday I went for a swim this morning. It was not spectacular. I am a bit embarrassed by the times I was holding and so will therefore not mention them. But the important thing is that I made it through the session. I haven't swum for a smidge over two weeks and so this morning I deliberately took a step back and took it a bit easier. I was determined to make it through the session and not explode in the process, so I think easing back was the right call. Even with the slower pace I was still surprised that I made it through the 5km set, but I am very happy that I did. The pace will come back with time, but I was pleased that enough fitness remains to get through a long swim.

Back on the bike tomorrow and a chance to play with a new toy, but more on that tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon is going to be run time. Hopefully.
