Little Holiday

I am going to be away for a couple of days. I am making the most of my training break and am heading off camping for the weekend with the family. As a result there won't be any updates for the next couple of days, probably until Monday.

To keep you entertained until then have a look at the below two links:

Firstly

Darwin Long Course

The Darwin Long Course is a total revamp of the Northern Territory Long Course Triathlon. For years the NT Long Course has been a pretty unique race in Australia, small, hot, tough. With this revamp it will remain unique, but it will also step up to the big time. A new course, a new location, a new distance, pretty much new everything.

The race will now be located in Darwin, less than 5kms from the CBD. The swim will be two laps of a 1km course in the ocean at Darwin's main tourist beach (on the website the organisers point out that the last fatal crocodile attack in Darwin harbour was over 100 years ago). The ride will be 4 laps of a 20km closed circuit and the run 2 laps of an 8km circuit along the coast. The ride and the run cover some of my favourite stretches of training road and path in the city. It should be a good, fast, picturesque route. The thought of riding along Dickward Drive, which is an easy 45km/h to 50km/h surface without cars is pretty exciting.

Those of you astute at mental arithmetic will have noticed that the distance for the race is 2/80/20, which is a step up from the previous 1.6/60/16 distance that the long course has been and more in line with other long course races in Australia.

Finally, this race will be one of the qualifying races for the Australian Age Group Long Course Triathlon team.

All up, it should be an exciting race if you are at a loose end in August.

Secondly

Kinetic-revolution

This link came to me via Twitter. I have only had a quick look at it, but what I have seen all seems pretty good. I haven't seen any mumbo jumbo on there, all the clips seem to show good, legitimate exercises and stretches. I plan to spend a bit of time scouring though it when I have a chance. Handy resource.
