Interesting Day

Interesting kind of day today. Started off very early, a little past midnight when my 11 month old teething son threw up. It is amazing just how much such a small body can contain. Luckily I managed to get it mostly on me, so the bed didn't cop too much of it. Phew (please note sarcasm).

You can probably imagine the night's sleep that followed that. Still I managed to get up and out the door for my ride. But more on that later.

I got back from my ride to find our TV in our backyard, which isn't where we usually keep it. Apparently it had started to smoke ominously and so my wife had put it outside so that it didn't fill the whole house with the noxious smell of burning electricals. A bit of investigation revealed that something had gone wrong with a thingamajig inside which had swapped from its usual role of making the TV work to a secondary function of bursting into flame. So scratch one TV.

On a bright side, hooray, new TV!!!

In between those various bits of excitement, I had a ride. The ride went pretty smashingly well. In fact I think it might be my quickest training ride on record. The speed of the ride might have something to do with the fact that the ride contained about a bajillion intervals. Well, 60 to be precise. The entire ride took a little bit over 3 hours. The intervals took about 3 hours. Something like that anyway. You get the picture, it was a pretty tough ride. But a very satisfying one.

I have to say though, it is pretty hard to keep count of 60 intervals.

Other than riding and buying TVs, I also had a swim today. For my swimming pleasure today I decided to go with the Swim Smooth+ option. The Swim Smooth+ option is where you go and do the Saturday Swim Smooth session and then do a bit extra after. The Swim Smooth session involved lots of strength work today, bands, paddles, pull buoy, all the good stuff. It was a tough session in the end, but not for the usual flat out swimming reasons, but more because it was pretty fatiguing.

Long, long run on the program tomorrow. So I will see how that goes. It is supposed to be hot tomorrow and so I will be trying to head out pretty early. I am on the fatigued side, so it could be a tough day out. But whilst the run is long, it is not high intensity, so I think if I stay relaxed with it, it should be fine.

Speaking of running, I did get out for a run last night in the end. The physio did do some dry needling, but she felt that my hamstring was recovering well enough that it would be okay to run on it. So that is what I did. It was a nice run in the end. I wasn't really expecting it, since it had a been a struggle to get myself going. Very pleasant surprise.

Now, time to figure out how the new TV works.
