Taper week is in full swing and as such I have the day off today. Not from work unfortunately, just a rest day from training.
However, rest day does not translate into a do nothing day. So far today I have cleaned and lubricated the drive train of the Cervelo P5, written a packing list for the weekend and figured out my nutrition plan. Activities for this afternoon include, changing over the brake pads on the P5, putting on the go fast wheels, giving her a bit of a final clean up and touching up my wetsuit repairs. On the subject of my nutrition plan, I would just like to say, Holy Crap, that is a lot of kilojules. I have been a bit lazy with the the nutrition plan, I probably should have done it before now. I have known for a while the general approach I was going to take, but I didn't get into the specifics until today. It is a little mind blowing to be honest. Fair to say the process of writing the plan damaged my calm from a couple of days ago just a little. However, I think now that it is done it will allow me to relax a little bit again.
Not too much else going on at the moment. I have a nice solid, but light week of taper training in front of me, which should be a nice lead up to the race. Often by this time in a race lead up I struggle to focus on the last week of training, rather just wanting to get on with the race. However, in this case I think I need the training, just to give my mind something else to do other than eating itself up thinking about race day.
I had my first look at Busselton forecast today. At the moment the forecast is looking pretty close to perfect. 26 degrees with offshore winds, which would mean a calm swim and a mostly crosswind on the bike. We shall see what the weather finally turns out to be, but so far so good.
Bit of a bike/run session in the morning. I will use it as a chance to give the race wheels a once over and will also be trying again to settle quickly into Ironman pace for the run.
Finishing touches time.
