Do people say that?
It has been a good day today. One of those days where you get to the end an know you have had an effective use of a day off from work.
Training went okay this morning. It was what I would call my first proper run since IMWA. As I mentioned yesterday, it was a bit of sand and some intervals. I got through it all, but my hamstring is feeling a bit tender now. Running on sand hasn't got any easier since I last did it. I still feel like I am running on the spot when running on soft sand. The intervals weren't quite as quick as they where when I last did them, but then again I was doing more of them this morning. Plus it takes a little while to kick the body back over into interval mode. I still managed to hit all my target times, but not as comfortably as I used to.
The pace on the last interval dropped off quite a bit, but that was at least partly due to the guy who pulled out of a car park in front of me requiring me to take evasive action. Annoyed me just a bit. If you are pulling out of a car park, across a cycleway, how hard is it to check whether anyone is actually using the cycleway before driving across it. I suspect the pedestrian may actually have right of way anyway.
I did my run session down at Leighton's Beach and it was packed with people. A lot of people getting out for their Boxing Day swim I think. Very nice vibe. After my run I couldn't resist and jumped in the ocean as well. That is one advantage running in Summer has over Winter.
The rest of the day has been spent spring cleaning (a little late I know). We managed to clear out a bunch of stuff that we have been trying to get to for months. It is a great feeling having it all cleared away. Still some more to go, but the progress we made today has given us a great feeling of accomplishment.
Another swimming day tomorrow, a bit like Monday. After my experience on Monday I think I will be heading down in a wetsuit. No more numb extremities. Hopefully tomorrow works out to be as useful as today has been.
