Running this morning. This morning's run was a repeat of the session I had on Tuesday. If you have read Tuesday's post, you are probably aware that the session did not go well. On Tuesday I was pretty sure the problems during the session were a consequence of the tough weekend of training I had had before that, after all I was still pretty sore Tuesday morning. I think this morning's session sort of confirms that.
The session this morning was still very tough. After all it is supposed to be a hard training session, but the outcomes were far more successful. I managed to achieve all of my target times for the intervals, so I was quite happy with that. The session certainly felt better than Tuesday once the going got really tough, I was able to maintain pace far more effectively. So that is all good news. I was pretty apprehensive heading out, since I knew how tough the session was, so it took me a little while to get out the door. Once I was out though I settled into the session pretty well and got on with it.
The other big activity of my day has been my appointment with physio Marc See at The Running Centre. As I mentioned yesterday, The Running Centre offer a bit of a technique analysis service, the aim of which is to try and get you running a bit quicker and avoiding injury. It was good, certainly a well put together service. They took some video of me running on a treadmill and then we sat down and went through a fairly detailed analysis of my stride etc. Finishing up with a bunch of exercises for me to take home and work on to hopefully improve some of my deficiencies, ie stability.
It went well I think. To my surprise I don't run like a complete mung bean. There are quite a few things that I do pretty okay. But there are certainly some other things I could be doing better and that was good news. Some of those things will help me go faster, but one or two key things will hopefully prevent future injury. I now have a couple of pages of exercises for me to work on which will be the first step towards fixing some of these issues and that is just what I was hoping for.
