Nice and quiet day today. Just a pretty simple spin on the bike this morning to get myself into the week. Pleasant weather, clear skies, light winds. A good way to start the week.
This is the beginning of the last heavy phase before Mandurah, and it is a proper heavy phase, some big volumes coming up in the next couple of weeks. We shall see how it goes. The last heavy week I had I got sick by Wednesday and ended up missing half of it. Hopefully this week, and the next few weeks, goes better than that.
We seem to be moving more into the Summer weather patterns here in Perth, more clear days, the winds are more predictable etc. The Summer wind patterns in Perth operate almost like clock work, they are very predictable. Easterly winds blow in the morning and westerly winds blow in the afternoon. I live near the coast, which is usually very nice, but one big downside is that not far to the west of me is the ocean. So if I want to go riding in the morning, I need to go east, into the head wind. If the ride is short enough the easterly might still be blowing when I am heading home and so I get a nice tail wind on the way back, lovely. However, say on a day like today where I rode into work and am not riding home until the afternoon, or on a really long Saturday ride, sometimes by the time I am riding west again the winds have shifted. Head winds both direction. That's not so fun. Oh well. Suck it up kiddo.
One thing I like about this time of year, given that Kona is on, is all the new bikes that are premiered at the race. I am currently enjoying checking out the bike eye candy new releases from all the manufacturers. Very pretty.
