Well today has been our last full day in Bintan, and it has actually been the only day in which I haven't had some sort of race related activity going on. No recce, briefing, race or presentation. Today was a tourist day. Very relaxing.
We had a nice drive around some of Bintan with the family. It was good, they got to see some of the ride course, and we all got to see some of the Island that isn't resort. It was a good way to spend the day. It was nice to revisit some of the course in a slightly more relaxed fashion.
Recovery wise I am feeling pretty okay. Given it is quite a demanding race, I have pulled up okay, no worse than after any other half ironman I think. I had a bit of a gentle jog this morning and that felt okay. I should be ready to get back into training proper by the time next week comes around.
Moving on from Bintan and I am now starting to shift my focus to my next race, the Mandurah 70.3. Very different beast to Bintan, a very, very fast course by all accounts. I will be interested to see what I can do. I try not to go into a race aiming at a particular time, but with a course like Mandurah, I would be hoping for something quick. That is a little while away though, at the moment I am just happy that I won't have to be packing my bike again for the rest of the year, with my next two races being local.
All that is a couple of months away. Before that we have a long day of travelling tomorrow in order to get home. As a result of the travel I will probably be out of contact for the whole day, so no update until Wednesday. I have added a couple more photos from the run course to my post from yesterday though. So if you haven't had a recent look at that, there are a couple more photos there.
This trip has been a good one, but I am looking forward to being home. I think I might not be too upset to be a bit cold again.
