Well if the weather today is to be believed, then Spring has Sprung. But to be honest I have been burned before, so I will wait until we have had more than a single gorgeous day before throwing my arms open to welcome the change of the seasons. But still, today is very nice, if that is all we get then I will take it.
It is my rostered day off work today, so not only is the weather lovely, but I get to be outside and enjoy it. I just got back from my easy Friday afternoon bike spin. Done at lunch time. This must be what being a pro is like.
The ride was very nice too, and not just because I got to be doing it instead of sitting at my desk at work. Blue skies, light winds, warm weather. It was like rolling into the cycling promised land. Perfect.
This morning it was the Swim Smooth Friday swim session. Strange with a session like that, you know what is coming, but you go anyway. Tough, demanding, but rewarding. I guess that is why you go. We had a couple of 500s to finish off the session today and my times for the 500s are about 4 seconds per 100 faster than they were a couple of months ago. I know that because when I asked Paul Newsome about my times, he was able to look my times up from a couple of months ago, which he had on record. It is attention to detail like that which explains why Paul and his Swim Smooth squad have a waiting list of over 200. For me, seeing progress like that is another reason that gets me to the pool early on a Friday morning, volunteering to do a session that I know will hurt.
I have had a couple of disrupted weeks of training since Bintan, and it has been frustrating. So far this week I have been able to get back to the business of serious training and it is starting to feel good. Which is good because I just got my training program for next week and it is about to get a lot more serious.
