Crime doesn't pay

A bit of a quieter day today. Thursday is effectively my rest day these days and so I am usually pretty happy when I get there. This morning I was out for a bit of an easy run, which went pretty well. The wind was back this morning, but since I wasn't trying to do efforts I didn't mind so much. I still minded, just not quite as much as on Tuesday.

Last night I was out on the bike and wonderfully, after a week of rubbish conditions, the wind dropped and the weather was lovely. Still a little bit more wind than I would have liked, ie more wind than is caused by a butterfly fluttering 100m away, but still it was better than we have been having. The wind dropped enough that I could at least consider doing efforts both with and against it. That was very welcome.

Not so welcome was a phone call this morning from my wife to tell me that somebody had gone through our car overnight. My fault really, when I got home last night I was in a bit of a rush. In my hurry, and distracted by getting all my stuff out of the car, I forgot to lock it. It seems that some industrious soul must have noticed as they walked past and decided to search it for us. Unfortunately for them it is the car of a family with two kids and so there is nothing of value in there much beyond a pack of cards for dinosaur snap. In fact the most valuable items in there are probably the kid's car seats. There is so little of value that they didn't actually take anything. In a way I am not sure if that isn't slightly insulting.

As annoying as the break in is, there is one bright point that is worth a giggle. They must have felt like they had hit pay dirt as they reached for a small black pack that looks a bit like a handbag and is often kept in our car. I can imagine their disappointment when they opened it to discover it was a travel change mat, complete with nappies. I imagine their disappointment and smile.

They can feel fortunate that at least the nappies were clean ones.
