There were puppies and rainbows and stuff, honest.
Well maybe not, but moving my ride to last night certainly did work out for the best. Riding conditions last night were still far from ideal, looking at you howling wind, but they were certainly better than if I had ridden Wednesday night. Riding Wednesday night would have carried a significant risk of drowning.
The ride was a tough intervals session. I managed to more or less hit the target speeds for the intervals, although some of them may have been just a little wind assisted. It was good to get through the session though after the stuffing around of Wednesday.
This morning is was down for what Paul Newsome called an 'Old School' swim session. To get in the spirit of it he even had a stopwatch, rather than taking times on his iPad like he usually does (fancy that, there is an app for that). What is an old school swim session you may well ask, well it turns out that it involves a lot of 100s done using the clock, rather than a wetronome. Simple but effective. And painful. For a few minutes there towards the end I felt like I was 15 again swimming in Nightcliff Pool in Darwin. Ahh the memories.
I didn't feel like I was connecting with the water quite as well as I had been on Wednesday, but the session was still a good one and I still felt pretty strong.
The last task for the day is to head out for a nice spin on the bike. It was a bit grey this morning and the roads were a bit wet, but the day seems to have cleared up. I keep checking out the windows to see if I can catch a cloud trying to sneak in, but so far it seems to be keeping clear. So fingers crossed that the weather holds.
Could be a very nice little ride if it does.
