How hard can it be?

In the end I did manage to get out on the bike last night for a very nice ride, not doing the ride in the morning was certainly the right decision. By yesterday afternoon the day had cleared and the roads had dried. It didn't stay that way, but it was nice that they made the effort.

I didn't actually get rained on last night. By about halfway through the ride I noticed some very threatening clouds gathering. The sort of clouds that definitely hold rain. I thought, 'should I make a run for home', but by that stage I figured it was probably too late, plus I wanted to finish the ride, so I kept going. To my surprise the rain never really came, but rather I dodged around it, Matrix Style, except that I was dodging clouds not bullets and I was on a bike. But you get the idea. I certainly got the aftermath of the rain though, with plenty of wet roads for the trip home. But that wasn't as bad and getting drenched in a downpour.

This morning it was time for one last polish off swim before heading to Bintan. The swim had a couple of tough bits to it, but it felt good and went well. Nice and reassuring.

For this afternoon I have an easy run on the program. I will head off and do that pretty soon, but it is a wet day here in Perth and so I am just trying to time it such that I don't drown.

Bintan prep is well and truly underway, with the bike packed away etc. I have a bit more packing to do tonight and then I will be all set. We have to get to the airport pretty early tomorrow morning, so it is going to be very early to bed tonight. Hopefully we are able to get enough sleep to make tomorrow as painless as possible. At least it should be a pretty easy day of travel tomorrow, with two kids.... Sure why not.

Given the upcoming trip, blogging will be a bit haphazard for the next week or so. I am pretty sure wireless is supposed to be available in Bintan, but we will have to wait and see on that one. I will try and update the blog as much as I can while I am away, but if it isn't easy then I could be pretty quiet for a week or so. Almost certainly no update tomorrow though.
