Worn Out

After the intense ride yesterday morning and the intense swim yesterday afternoon, I woke up this morning feeling like I had been stampeded over by a herd of small, but pointy toed elephants. I haven't woken up properly sore for a while, so I guess this was a bit of a novelty. It wasn't the good sort of novelty though.

Waking up feeling sore is not a good way to start a long run. I got out in the end and ended up having an okay run. It was a long run with some periods of high intensity and low intensity, rather than just heading out and running. So that kept it interesting. Unfortunately during one of the periods of high intensity I felt a bit of a twinge in my left hamstring. I pulled up and gave it a bit of a stretch, but in typical triathlete style I figured it was probably okay and so finished off the run. Now I am not so sure that it was such a good idea. Seems to only be a minor strain, but I will be keeping both an eye and some ice on it. Not sure what it means for the bike tomorrow. I will wait and see how it pulls up in the morning I think.

It has been a wintery kind of day today. Not that cold and not that wet, but enough of both to make being inside and eating toasted sandwiches a nice option. So that is what we have been doing. As part of being inside I figured I might as well take the chance to change out the brake pads on the training bike.

As you can see they were probably past the point where the needed to be replaced. Better late than never, like most things. Except being stampeded by a herd of tiny pointy toed elephants. I would be happy to keep that as never.
