The ride last night was...
Interesting.
The wind was insane, a true physical force to be contended with. Riding into it was like riding up hill. I didn't get rained on much, only a couple of times, but I got drenched by the river when riding alongside the freeway. The below photo isn't of last night, but it is a fair representation of what that stretch of cycleway can be like in a storm. Unpleasant. I was soaked. If anything the spray coming off the river last night was worse than is shown below.

Needless to say the bike got a good wash today.
The storm was still raging this morning. It was the sort of weather where heading out on the bike wasn't even really an option. By the general lack of bikes on the road, it looks like I wasn't the only one to feel that way. To get around the weather having to much of an impact on my training this weekend I have ended up swapping my training days between Saturday and Sunday. It isn't ideal, but the other option was just flagging the Saturday ride all together. So this has worked out better than nothing.
As a result of my change to the training plan, I did venture outside today, but it was for a run rather than a ride. Even that was reasonably unpleasant, but less so than if I had been riding. The wind was still insane, with some stretches feeling like you were running through honey. Running home with the tail wind was a lot of fun though. Given the conditions, I was pretty happy with how the run went though.
Sunday afternoon was meant to be an easy spin on the bike, so that was on the agenda for this afternoon. The weather had cleared a bit by this afternoon, but I still wasn't keen to venture out, with sudden squalls jumping up with very little warning. So it was off to the wind trainer for my easy spin. Oh well if I have to spend time on a wind trainer, these sorts of rides are probably the best ones for it. The least likely to result in insanity.
The plan is to hopefully do my long Saturday morning ride tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the weather agrees to let me.
