According to the Bureau of Meteorology it felt like 2 degrees or so so when I got to the pool this morning. I would completely agree with that. It was pretty gosh darn cold. The nicest place to be was definitely in the pool. Getting out again was the issue. Needless to say it was a hot Milo morning once I got to work. It may well be a hot Milo afternoon as well they way things are going.
I got a message from a friend up in Darwin the other day who was saying how strange it was that they were up there swimming in wetsuits because the pools are so cold and I am down here jumping in the water to get warm. The joys of winter training I guess. And yes for those wondering, the pools in Darwin aren't heated and so at this time of year they really do get pretty chilly.
Running this afternoon which will be a bit of a change from my usual training routine. I will be doing the session with some folks from the Stadium Tri Club, which is one of the club's here in Perth. It will be interesting to see how it goes and what it is like. The change in routine is to give me a chance to train with people from the club and to see what it is like.
The reason why I am training with one of the local clubs is that the Triathlon Australia membership year has just started again and so I need to renew my membership. Triathlon Australia run a scheme where membership is much cheaper if you also join a club, that way it encourages people to support the clubs. A big part of me is keen remain a member of the Darwin Tri Club, but I think it makes sense for me to join a Perth club, given that I live here. At the moment I have the choice narrowed down to two, the Fremantle Tri Club and Stadium Tri Club. They happen to be my two closest clubs, but that wasn't really a contributing factor, they both just happen to be pretty good from what I have heard. Which club I join may not end up really mattering much, since I may not end up doing much with the club, but at the same time I might. So I want to make sure I am happy with the club that I join. No big rush on the decision since I don't need my Triathlon Australia membership for a little while. So I will make sure which ever way I go it is a decision I am happy with.
