Still freezing

Last day of the training week. For this morning it was a ride and then run off the bike session. Being the last day of the week I was reasonably tired, but I managed to get myself out the door and onto the bike. It being four degrees didn't help the motivation, but I just piled on the clothes to compensate. Once again I found that after I got going I felt pretty okay. Down to the freeway for some intervals and then home again. A quickish transition and then out for the run. I say quickish since I found that it is hard to transition quickly when you have to first remove three layers of cycling clothing.

Once I was out onto the run I was surprised at how good I felt. In fact it ended up being the fastest time I have ever done over that distance, which was a bit of a surprise.

No problem with the bike this morning. Last night I removed the tyre and found that a section of the bead had ripped out from the sidewall of the tyre. I am not sure what caused it, I am hoping it is not anything that I did during installation. I don't think I can do anything to save the tyre though unfortunately, I think it is a write off. Very annoying since it was pretty much a brand new tyre.

After training this morning it was up to Guilderton for my niece's birthday. After the celebration I took the opportunity to go and have a training swim in the river. Last time I did this it was absolutely freezing, despite my wetsuit. This time I went prepared with two swim caps as well as my wetsuit. It was still pretty freezing, but in the end the swim was a nice one. It really is a lovely river to swim in.

Sleep in tomorrow morning. It is the first sleep in I will have had for over two weeks and I am really looking forward to it.

Oh yeah one last thing, I know I am a day late, but hooray the tour is here. I love this time of year. Unfortunately tonight my desire for sleep is going to outweigh my desire to watch the tour. But nonetheless, I still love this time of year.
