Well the weather smiled on me this morning and I managed to take the P5 out for its first spin. Unfortunately it wasn't the sort of ride that really allowed the P5s main qualities to shine, since it was a set of hill repeats. But still I got to get out on it, which is the main thing. A few teething problems that will require some adjusting, fine tuning
of the gears that sort of thing, but on the whole the ride went very
smoothly. I will wait until I have logged a few more miles to give it more of a review, but the first spin left me pleased and impressed. On the flat it certainly seems to hold speed very well. Hard to tell how much of that was the bike and how much was me just being excited, but first impressions are good.
Nice end to a good solid weekend of training today. Given the the week I have had, in terms of being ill, it was great to get a few good solid sessions under my belt on the weekend. Nice to feel that things are still underway.
The morning started with a chilly set of hill repeats on the P5, which went well enough. I spent the first half of the ride riding around like a big girl, scared of hurting the bike on the dark roads. But once it started getting lighter, I was able to relax a bit more and get into it.
After the ride it was time for a good long run off the bike, which went very well. Started to feel it towards the tail end of the run, but it was a good bit of pace work. Finished the run at a local cafe where I met the family for a take away coffee, if only all runs could finish that way.
Then this afternoon it was down to the local pool for a nice long wetsuit swim. Just turning the arms over to spend some more time in the suit. This time the suit felt much more comfortable than during my last outing in the river. Although the pool was pretty warm, which had me sweltering in the suit a little bit. Made me feel like I was back up in Darwin for a minute there.
I felt justified in treating myself to a litre of full cream milk after the swim that was for sure. I felt like I had earned it.
I am looking forward to putting last weeks cold behind me and getting into a good solid week of training.
