I got heckled by a little old lady on a bike during my ride this morning. She felt that I was going to quickly for a particular stretch of cycleway. Not sure how I feel about that. I am not that phased about the little old lady thing, that has happened before, but usually they are in a BMW SUV and as such can be easily dismissed. Also there are certain little old(er) ladies I would be happy to be heckled by. Robyn the wife of my coach for one. She has been to Kona three (or is it four?) times. Update: I have been reliably informed that is it four. If she told me off I would probably thank her for the experience. But a little old lady who I haven't met before, not so sure. It might just be that she had a point though.
Other than the little old lady thing, it was a good ride. Legs felt a little flat from the long ride yesterday, but it wasn't to big a deal. Ride was made up of a couple of hours with some hill repeats thrown in, so I headed out to King's Park for a bit of a roll around. Much quieter than during the week, which was nice. On the way past I noticed the Perth to Fremantle rowing race was on,which is an annual long distance race they have here. Took me back to another time in life when I was a rower. I remember doing that particular race a number of times.
Had a run off the bike which went pretty well. It is so much easier to run quickly (well quickly for me) in this cooler weather. That is another nice change that has come because of the move, right up there with being able to walk into a shop and buy running shoes.
Had a couple of friends complete Ironman Austraila today. So big congratulations to Marcus, Ben and Amy. First time over the distance for Amy, so that is a pretty major accomplishment.
Rest day again tomorrow. Hooray. So that means I get to stay up a little bit because of the sleep in tomorrow morning. Sometimes it really is the little things. In other big news, next week is an unload week in my training macrocycle, the last one before Cairns 70.3. Wow, that last sentence has some big words that sure sound impressive. However, it is simply a slightly lighter week that allows your body to recover a bit. So that will be nice. The flip side of that is that after an unload week comes several weeks of load. The last big block of work before Cairns. So I think I might be resting while I have the opportunity.
Anyway, I am off to enjoy my chance to stay up a little. I really think 10:30 might be on the cards...
