Beautiful rest day today. Is there anything as sweet as a sleep in. Since I didn't have training to get to, I took the opportunity to sleep through my alarm. Never know when you might get another chance after all. This resulted in me missing my train by about a minute, I guess I probably should have run for it. Oh well. Nothing I like more than waiting for public transport, oh yeah except perhaps anything in the world. In fact, riding to Uni in order to avoid waiting for public transport is one of the reasons I started cycling many years ago.
It does annoy me that the fastest way for me to get to work is on a bike. That doesn't seem right. It is not as though I live close to work either, it is about a 20km ride. Surely a train should be able to beat that. Still I wasn't to late, so no real harm done.
Still haven't sorted out a replacement rear red light. Ended up riding a bit later on Sunday morning so that I wouldn't be quite so invisible without it. I have been using fully enclosed style lights that can be charged via a USB. However, I am beginning to suspect that the USB port is the source of the water ingress that has been killing the lights. Might have to go old school and start using a light with replaceable batteries again. Will have to sort something out pretty soon, just weighing up some options.
Update on the light. On Saturday I went past Churchill Cycles in Booragoon to see about buying a new one. They had the same light as I was trying to replace, which is a Moon Comet, however, given the trouble I was having I wasn't that keen on getting another of the same light. I was telling them about the trouble and they said to bring it past today. Well I just heard from my wife, she took the light past Churchill and they replaced it. I should emphasise that I didn't buy it from there. I bought it up in Darwin. Nor am I a valued customer, they don't know me from Adam. I have to say that is good service. How awesome are they, and my wife as well for taking it past for me.
Looking forward to being able to go home tonight and not head out training again. That is the lovely desert that comes at the end of a hearty rest day. Speaking of lovely desert my wife also mentioned that while out at Churchill she did some shopping and bought some double choc muffins. Oooooo. They are offically guilt free muffins on account of it being a rest day. I am pretty sure that is how it works.
